Hathaway is too good an actress not to deliver more than just a grand star turn and she's able to carry the story of Austen's.. We can't quite shake the feeling we've seen this all done before, and better.. This is the most interesting role Carrey has had in a long while.. Yes, some familiar Carrey tactics are on display, but the star's performance has real heart - it's easily the best thing he has done since Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind..
